When Marta Imeneo, Marie Claude Marson, and Maria Pnagalos first arrived in Georgia, they were instantly captivated. Three women who had been working together in Europe decided to take a leap of faith into something entirely new. In 2022, they moved to Georgia permanently, founding Ambrosia Winery – a project that brilliantly blends their global experience with the ancient richness of Georgian viticulture.
T: Tell us about the story – how did this international team come together in Georgia?
When we discovered Georgia, we were captivated by its ancient wine history and unique traditions. In 2022, we made the permanent move to combine our international expertise with Georgian viticulture, creating a winery that honors the country’s heritage while reflecting our diverse backgrounds and shared passion for wine. It was a commitment to the place we now call home.
T: What types of wines do you produce, and how do they reflect both Georgian grape varieties and your global winemaking vision?
At Ambrosia, we use both modern and traditional methods to craft wines that honor Georgia while appealing to an international audience. Our range includes a crisp Mtsvane-Rkatsiteli blend, an elegant oak Saperavi, and a traditional Qvevri amber wine made from Kisi and Chardonnay. Each bottle is a dialogue between Georgia’s unique heritage and or contemporary, global vision.

T: Branding is essential in today’s wine world. How would you describe the identity of Ambrosia Winery, and what makes it stand out?
Our identity is a powerful connection between our diverse cultures and Georgia’s rich history. It was inspired by a beautiful Romanic mosaic we found in Tbilisi; a fragment of that mosaic is featured on each of our bottles. This symbolizes the blend of ancient tradition and universal appeal. Ambrosia stands out because we are deeply rooted in heritage yet boldly shaped by a contemporary international vision.
T: How do you combine your diverse international background with Georgian winemaking traditions to create a unique style?
Our mission is to honor these profound traditions, which are expertly led by our winemaker Olga, who comes from Kakheti. At the same time, we incorporate elements of Italian and French winemaking that reflect our own professional experiences. The result is a style that is truly authentic and expressive but also remarkably elegant and balanced, making it appealing to both seasoned local enthusiasts and international audiences.
T: How does Ambrosia reflect your vision for inclusivity and innovation in the wine world?
We fundamentally believe that excellence in winemaking knows no gender. By leading Ambrosia with passion, expertise, and a vision, we hope to empower women in Georgia and around the world to pursue leadership and innovation in the wine industry. Our story is a reminder that dedication, collaboration, and heart are what truly define success and that anyone with commitment and creativity can make a meaningful impact in this field.
