T: Tazo, how did your wine journey begin?

Hello, my wine journey began with a deep interest in plants - especially the vine. I was always curious about observing the process of growth and development. Over time, this curiosity naturally expanded into an interest in harvesting grapes and the process of winemaking. Through experience, I came to understand that everything begins in the vineyard. There can be no healthy, high-quality wine without a healthy and well-maintained vineyard.

T: You studied in Bordeaux, one of the world’s most influential wine regions. What was the key knowledge or experience there that most changed your perspective on wine?

Studying in Bordeaux was not only an academic experience for me; it completely reshaped the way I see both viticulture and winemaking.

The most important lesson I learned is that the story of wine begins in the vineyard, not in the cellar. In French viticulture, every detail matters—from soil type and preparation to microclimate, vine training, yield control, disease management, and making the right decisions based on carefully collected data. During my time there, I saw how scientific knowledge and generations of experience work together in practice. This balance is what ultimately forms the foundation for producing wines of long-term quality and character.

T: When did the idea for creating wine.vine.chronicles emerge, and what motivated you to start this platform?

Interest in viticulture and winemaking is strong in Georgia, yet broader and more contemporary knowledge about wine culture often remains quite limited. The idea behind creating wine.vine.chronicles was to share more stories about the world of vines and wine in the Georgian language and to communicate my own experiences.

Through this platform, I try to speak about vineyards and wine in a simple and engaging way - sharing both practical insights and interesting facts. At the same time, I would like to hear more about the challenges facing Georgian viticulture and winemaking, meet people working in the field, and create a space where we can exchange experiences and learn more about wine together.

T: What are your plans?

Looking ahead, I would like to deepen my theoretical knowledge in both viticulture and winemaking even further. I am also seeking diverse practical experiences in historic and prestigious châteaux and wineries across different countries. At this stage, my goal is to explore new ideas, learn different approaches to solving challenges in the vineyard and cellar, and study fascinating winemaking methods in greater depth.
